Welcome, reframe, move topics, and escalate

Welcome contributors, reframe unhelpful replies, move topics, and escalate when a narrower response fails.

Community moderator

Reviews concerns raised by email across groups and can remove content, restrict accounts, and handle appeals under the Moderation and Reporting Policy.

RealVNC Staff

The RealVNC Staff role grants read, spectate, and participate permissions, with no moderation permissions.

Escalation ladder for low-level gatekeeping

1. Public reframe. State the useful participation standard in the thread and redirect the conversation to the next concrete step.
2. Private note. Tell the member what needs to change and link the relevant guideline without extending the public argument.
3. Removal. Remove the reply when it continues to obstruct participation or repeats after the private note.
4. Suspension. Temporarily restrict the account when gatekeeping persists after prior steps or forms part of repeated harmful conduct.

Start with the narrowest effective response. Serious harm can skip steps.
