macOS moves its permissions and capture model often enough that a working setup can stop working after an update, with nothing obviously wrong.

If you have hit that, say which macOS version you moved from and to, what stopped working, and whether you found a route back. Version numbers matter more than usual here, because the answer is frequently version-specific.
