RealVNC Connect 8.5.0 released (August 2026)

RealVNC's release notes date RealVNC Connect 8.5.0 to August 2026. They list six new features, six fixes and one security change. Highlights:

• A refreshed homepage layout that guides users to the next step, whether they are connecting out to a device or accepting connections from others (one-time or unattended).
• One-time access codes no longer depend on unattended access being enabled, and the codes refresh on a 2-minute cycle, so there is no need to switch them back on by hand when one expires.
• On Windows, the screen-blanking overlay can show a custom image, plus who is connecting and their IP or cloud address.
• New audit events include file transfers, session recordings, and the start and end of chats.
• The release notes say: "Improved authentication security when connecting to ARD devices."
